First published on February 22, 2021, it serves as the foundational first book in the Old Red's Adventures series.

The StorylineThe book tells a nostalgic tale centered around Old Red, a hardworking farm tractor who deeply loves her time out in the fields. When her farmer decides to retire, Old Red finds herself stored away inside a dark barn, where she slowly rusts, gathers dust, and keeps company only with the resident spiders.

While sitting in abandonment, she constantly dreams of her past glory days and wishes for a way to be useful again.Her second chance arrives when an energetic young man visits the barn. Seeing past her faded paint and layers of dust, he recognizes the majestic machine she once was and decides to restore her, giving Old Red a brand-new chance to shine in the sun.

True Story

Many years later, Old Red was used to help save local homes during the January bushfires that became the inspiration for the children's book by Bernadette Murphy.

Channel 7's Nick McCallum told the story of the 63 year old rundown fire truck used to help save homes in Ruffy on 7 News in July 2027.
